The Steelworks Center of the West is the custodian of thousands of artifacts from the historic steel mill and mines of the Colorado Fuel & Iron Company. In an effort to reach a wider audience and to engage a new generation of followers, the Steelworks Center embarked on a mission of curating new contemporary art exhibitions which embrace the archives and artifacts from the mill.

About the Steelworks Center of the West

The Steelworks Center of the West provides continuing education to the public through the preservation of historic archives, artifacts and buildings of the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company (CF&I), and related activities leading to the industrialization of the entire Western United States. The Steelworks Center accomplishes this by providing Kindergarten through post-graduate level educational programming, and by collecting, preserving and exhibiting collections of the steel and mining industry, Pueblo’s Bessemer neighborhood, and the contributions and impacts working families in those industries made in the Industrial West.

The Center is located in the historic CF&I Administrative Offices in the heart of the Bessemer Neighborhood, in Pueblo, Colorado. Together with the City and County of Pueblo, the Bessemer Association of Neighborhood Development (B.A.N.D.), and NeighborWorks® of Pueblo they are working to revitalize this unique neighborhood.
